Urthy Fiber Art

When I was nine my grandmother taught me to sew on a singer 27K Sphinx model. It had been her mothers sewing machine and was originally a treadle machine. Grandma had the "electric kit" put on the machine in the 1930s. It was a beautiful mysterious machine. This began my love of all things vintage and an appreciation for fine craft.

I discovered the art of Andy Warhol a decade later and learned how to screen print. I began printing my own original images onto muslin. Once I began combining my prints with vintage textile I found my voice as an artist.

The images I work with are an eclectic array yet cohesive as a collection. The vintage mid century barkcloth I pair with my images is the commonality in my designs.
